Documents needed for your wedding in Kenya

• Birth’ certificates.
• Passports.
• Certificate of No Impediment or sworn affidavit (In case of not having married before) Text can be provided
• Decree absolute (in cases of divorcees).
• Death certificate (in cases of widow or widower).
• Details of couples’ professions.
• Official translations of documents stamped by legal authority in case the documents are written in another language than English
• Two copies of the above documents must be forwarded to our office in Nairobi, at least two weeks before arrival in Kenya.
• The original documents should be presented together with the application for a special marriage license to the Registrar of Marriages at least three working days prior to the wedding.
• The couple has to be in Kenya at least for 4 days when the application is made.

At the end of the marriage ceremony the couple will receive the wedding certificate.

A Certified Copy of the Entry into the Register of Marriages is available after three working days.
