Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria is the setting for a safari holiday that’s about as far away from it all as you can possibly get.
It’s the world’s second largest freshwater lake and is the magical source of the Nile.
A century ago European explorers risked their lives to claim this prize for their Empires.
It was famed as the pearl of Africa.
The Lake is rich in fish and birdlife (fish eagles, kingfishers and pelicans), it’s islands lush and verdant.
The deep blue waters, where you can see the playful otters, support an abundant ecosystem.
The chance to catch the giant Nile perch draws many; the Nile perch is the king of the lake’s fish. It can grow to 1.8 metres (6 feet) long, weigh 140 kgs (300 pounds).
It’s shores are lined with groves of banana trees and fishing villages where you will always be greeted with a friendly smile and a wave.
Lake Victoria is accessible by air from Masai Mara or Nairobi. We recommend you stay 2 nights to take advantage of fishing, bird watching, boat trips and the island’s unique atmosphere.
